It would probably be difficult to find anyone here in Florida, or elsewhere for that matter, who hasn’t had a sudden craving for some kind of food. Once such a craving hits, it can be irresistible to hop into the car and go get whatever it is right then and there. This might not be a problem for most people, but if someone has been drinking before doing so, it could result in an arrest for drunk driving.
Reports indicate that the recent arrest of a 23-year-old man may have occurred due to a craving for some ice cream. It was a recent Sunday evening when the man supposedly got into a car with two flat tires and drove to a nearby Royal Scoop to satisfy his urge for ice cream. It is said that he was driving erratically as well.
As the man exited the establishment with his ice cream, police say that he heard their sirens and ran. When police officers caught up with him, he refused to participate in sobriety tests. For an unknown reason, he was taken to the hospital by firefighters, one of whom he supposedly bit. Police also said that he was belligerent when they attempted to speak with him and identified himself by his brother’s name.
Despite the alleged evidence of his inebriation, this man retains the right to challenge the drunk driving and other charges against him. Anyone here in Florida accused of a crime has the right to be presumed innocent until proved guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. Considering the potential penalties of a conviction, it would more than likely be beneficial to seek out legal assistance as soon as possible after an arrest.
